You malign me.

[Liem’s gaze follows Set’s face as it tips to press chaste kisses against his wrist and then lifts again to meet his regard. Too invested in this to sound especially wounded, he leans against the god with faintly coloured cheeks but an otherwise sedate manner.]

If I were to give you a marriage band, you would wear it here. [He traces a fingertip over the neighbour of the pinkie finger bearing his ring.] And I would wear one also. Otherwise, a ring is simply a ring.

But it is mine.

[And only Set would have known this—unless, in the scant days Liem wore the ring in advance of giving it to him, one of his neighbours took particular note of it. But they would have had to have been particularly nosy to do so.

His expression, as he meets Set’s fond regard, is serious.

I have never imagined I would be wed in my lifetime. I have no desire to raise a family, or create a legacy through them. But I do wish to belong to someone. I wish to belong to you, and to be desired by you, and to be of service to you. That is why I gave you my token.
