My favourite ship scenarios are messy and drama-filled. I have trouble maintaining enthusiasm for dynamics that are too uncomplicated, whether for ships or smut, so purely domestic and slice-of-life story lines aren't my preference.
For his part of the equation, Liem is bringing to the table plenty of repression and self-worth issues that conflict with his desires for emotional and physical intimacy. I love to dig into that stuff! With another character that is slow to open up, it can be a great combination.
External factors that make it harder for characters to trust each other, or mean their relationship has to be secret or might not last long-term, are great as well. Maybe one character's already betrothed to someone else, or their statuses are incompatible. Things that not only would make other people disapprove, but would make the characters doubt each other's feelings or motives.
Finally, I love a wonky power dynamic. The peak Liem-shipping experience often involves him being bossed around, bullied, or manhandled, especially during sex. He's well suited to subordinate positions, like employee, captive, or subject of nobility or royalty. I'm open to the full range from respectful relationships to non-con, so we can definitely work out something that seems fun for both parties.

Smut Notes
PRAISE KINK: For Liem, praise is extra spicy if it's also a little humiliating—either because it's delivered in a bit of a patronizing way, like he's someone's favourite pet, or because the subject of the praise is something embarrassing to him. For instance, because he feels such a need to be restrained all the time, he'd be embarrassed to be complimented for getting hard quickly or for being wanton and insatiable, in situations where that was the case.
DISCIPLINE & REINFORCEMENT: Similar to degradation/humiliation above, in most ship scenarios it's best if things don't get too stern. Although he's happy to be (sexily) tormented, Liem generally doesn't want to feel criticized or scolded during sex; he mostly just wants to feel bossed around, bullied, and taken care of. Exceptions would mostly be for scenes or PSLs with a less affectionate mood, in which case OOC communication would again be desired.
MESS: Getting messy and dishevelled can make Liem really titillated considering how put-together he usually insists on being, but I prefer if the descriptions themselves stay brief and fairly un-detailed. Sensory descriptions of fluids can quickly get too gross for me, especially in relation to them ending up in someone's mouth.
